Rev. Edwin M. Ferguson serves as the pastor of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Elizabethtown, NC. He is a native of St. Louis, MO where he matriculated through various private schools. Upon graduation from Lutheran North, Rev. Ferguson continued his education at Concordia University in Seward, NE (Nebraska).
It was during his journey at Concordia where Rev. Ferguson surrendered to God's call on his life at the age of 17. Rev. Ferguson also received a B. A. in History while studying in the Pre- Seminary program. Upon graduation from Concordia, Rev. Ferguson continued his education at Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC. In May 2011, Rev. Ferguson received his Master's of Divinity from Hood. Rev. Ferguson is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Hood Theological Seminary.
In January 2011, Rev. Ferguson was appointed to Trinity 'three-in-one' A.M.E. Zion Church in Blacksburg, SC by Bishop Kenneth Monroe, Presiding Prelate of the South Atlantic Episcopal District. He served at the 'three-in-one' A.M.E. Zion church for three years. In October 2013, Bishop Monroe assigned Rev. Ferguson to the Mount Vernon Church 'the MtV Church' in Fort Lawn, SC. In December 2015, Bishop Louis Hunter, Sr., Presiding Prelate of the Mid- Atlantic I Episcopal District and the Cape Fear conference, assigned him to the Mt. Zion Church where he currently serves. He is also an instructor at North Carolina Theological Seminary, Baldwin Branch Church campus.
Rev. Ferguson has received several awards which include but not limited to: Eagle Scout (first Eagle Scout of Washington Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church's Troop 147), one of the first two Prueshener Scholars at Hood Theological Seminary, History of Christianity Award, Bishop Preaching Award, and the Faculty Award all from Hood Theological Seminary.
Rev. Ferguson is married to Norketa Ferguson, also of St. Louis, MO. They have two daughters, Norkesia McGloster and Eryn McKenzie Ferguson.
Rev. Ferguson is one with both a shepherd's and a servant's heart. He is humbled and thankful to God for this unique opportunity to serve God and God's people. He is extremely grateful to be an instrument of God. Please pray for him as he continues to seek what is pleasing in God’s sight for his life.
